What Does this Mean for Faculty and Staff?
Until now, all students, faculty, and employees have been licensed to access Microsoft Office 365 in the cloud and download the Office 365 applications on their personal home computers.
In order to be prepared for the Microsoft licensing change on August 1st, beginning on July 30, 2024, only licenses purchased for students, full-time faculty, and full-time staff are eligible to download Microsoft Office 365 at home
Office installed on Maricopa devices will not be affected by these changes.
What Does this Mean for Students?
These changes do not impact students! Students will continue to have access to download Microsoft Office 365 at home, use the Office 365 web apps, and use Office installed on Maricopa computers.
Maricopa students can visit https://www.maricopa.edu/students/technical-support/microsoft-365 for more information on their software benefits.
What If You Need the Desktop Apps for Your Job?
We recognize that colleges have specific academic programs that require teaching a Microsoft Office application itself, such as how to use Excel, and District ITS is working with colleges to determine which adjunct faculty teach those applications and have an essential need for the enhanced license. If you have a question about your access to an appropriate Microsoft Office 365 product, please contact your local IT help desk.
